Westpac Banking Corporation (Westpac), is an Australian bank and financial-services provider headquartered in Westpac Place, Sydney. It is one of Australia's "big four" banks. As of November 2015, Westpac has 13.1 million customers.

Westpac Bank is also one of the largest banks in Australasia. It is expanding rapidly into Asian and Pasific markets which requires an employment of new staff. There was a demand for a new Human Resources Portal.

My Role

I led User Interface and User Experience Design efforts of Australasian Westpac Human Resources Portal, working within a team located in Perth and Sydney.

I've created a number of user journeys, flow charts, wireframes for various key sections of the application, progressing them into fully completed mockups and supporting visuals for the new portal.

The Challenge

Westpac Ausralasia required a new Human Resources section for their intranet. The challenge was to create a visual and easy to follow portal with interactive maps, tagged with a number of positions available in each region which would expand and show positions and detailed job descriptions. Internal staff then should be able to apply for a selected position and keep all communication archieved within their profiles.

All of the above should have worked within Westpac visual guidlines and fit into the existing Intranet framework.

The Solution

I concluded research and analysis of the existing assets, highlighting styles and visual elements we could use in our new designs. Our new HR Portal had to look and feel like it's a part of the existing Westpac Intranet allowing seamless integration between the two.

I designed first set of the wireframes which were signed off by the Executive Director. The feedback was positive and reassuring. He liked the way they had the same look and feel as their Intranet and were simple and obvious.

New visuals based on the wireframes have been completed soon after and signed off on the first draft. It's always enjoyable to realise that you are and your client are on the same "wave length" and things progress exactly as planned.

The Vision

The vision was to create HR Portal which would be seamlessly integrated within the existing Westpac Intranet, allowing their staff across all Australasia the access new and exciting job opportunities.
